Easy, Edible Fake Blood Recipe for Halloween

Halloween is right around the corner! If you're like me, you like to prepare a little early. Before you start spending tons of money at the Halloween stores, consider making some of the costume necessities on your own. Fake blood, anyone?

Yep. You can make it at home, with only a few ingredients that you probably already have lying around.

Looks delicious, right?

Okay, maybe not. But it is edible.

It's much cheaper, and more realistic than the fake blood you find at Halloween stores.

Go ahead and try it out. It's super easy.

What you'll need:

  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • Red food coloring
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder
  • A small container (with a lid) that you don't mind staining
Pour corn syrup into a small container. Add a few drops of food coloring to the corn syrup. Stir it around until it's a nice, deep red. Add more food coloring if needed.

Add cocoa powder and stir for about 10 strokes. You don't want the cocoa powder to dissolve. It makes the blood look coagulated.

Use the blood for your costume!

Refrigerate when not in use.
