The Green Earth Frying Pan by Ozeri was delivered promptly, and upon opening, I first took notice of its size. The pan is 8 inches in diameter, which is perfect for cooking food items such as eggs and grilled cheese, as well as for sauteing a small amount of onions and other vegetables. It should be noted that Ozeri makes larger sizes of the Green Earth Frying Pans for bigger jobs. These pans are found on Amazon.
After removing the product from its package, I noticed it came with a protective cloth to prevent scratches during storage.
I'd also like to add that the color of the pan is very pretty. It's a vibrant, clean, shiny lime green.
When I picked the pan up to get a feel of it, I realized that it is pretty hefty. The pan just feels durable. That's likely because it is. It's made of heavy-gauge pure aluminum--with no heavy metals or harmful chemicals.
Here are a few more features Ozeri mentions about their Green Earth Frying Pan.
- Utilizes GREBLON ceramic - a safe ceramic coating from Germany which is 100% PTFE and PFOA free
- Textured pan delivers non-stick performance without harmful fumes or toxins at high temperatures.
- Scratch resistant 100% ceramic coating
- Easy to clean
- Made from durable heavy-gauge pure aluminum with no heavy metals or harmful chemicals.
- Heat resistant silicon coated handle
- Magnetized induction-stove safe base for rapid heat transfer
What I like most about the Ozeri Green Earth Frying Pan is that it is free of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). PTFE is used in many standard pans, and at high temperatures, this synthetic substance releases fumes which may be harmful to humans. These pans that use PTFE are typically manufactured with PFOA. Because the Ozeri Green Earth Frying Pan doesn't utilizes those synthetic materials, it means that you needn't worry about harmful fume.
The pan uses "GREBLON," a ceramic coating from Germany. The coating is scratch-resistant.
We put the pan to the test to find out.
My egg started out just fine...
...but ended up a little too brown for my taste.
It should be noted that I'm used to cooking at high temperatures for a number of reasons. My stove is older and my current pans don't seem to transfer heat evenly. Because of this, I instinctively used a higher heat setting with the Ozeri Green Earth Frying Pan.
The higher temperature caused a little bit of the egg to stick around in the pan, but it wasn't "stuck" as you might assume. It literally wiped right off.
The pan was literally spotless with a quick wipe down.
Because I used high heat, I decided to try again with a lower heat setting. I ended up with perfectly cooked grilled cheese. I had absolutely no issues browning the bread, and I also noticed that the grilled cheese was cooked in very little time, compared to a standard non-stick pan.
Even though some of my cheese started too ooze out of the sides, it came right off of the pan.
This is literally right after having cooked grilled cheese and wiping it off one time. |
Bottom line, the pan works as it says. It heats evenly, holds temperature well, and is very simple to clean. Even on an old stove, it provides even cooking in little time. However, you should be careful with your heat settings. If you have an old stove, don't assume that you'll need a higher temperature with the Ozeri Green Earth Frying Pan. It distributes heat so evenly and efficiently that higher temperatures are not needed.
I'm totally satisfied yet again, and would highly recommend the Ozeri Green Earth Frying Pan.
