For our family, Christmas is more than the amount of presents under the tree. Christmas is about spending time together as a family and appreciating the important things in life, including a roof over our heads, food on our table, and love in our hearts. Despite the cold weather, we try to make the holidays about spending plenty of time with one another, doing things that we enjoy. Christmas tree shopping is one of those things.
Since we purchased our home in 2011, Christmas tree shopping as a family has become one of our favorite holiday traditions. The process of searching for a tree, learning about the different kinds, cutting it down, and hauling it home has been something that we've really enjoyed doing together for the past six years.
In 2014, we decided to try out a new Christmas tree farm. Justice did a little research and we decided to stop by Greene Acres Christmas Tree Farm in Medway, Ohio.
I am very happy that we did.

Greene Acres Christmas Tree Farm is much more than a standard ol' tree farm. While they do sell Christmas trees, of course, they also have alpacas in the back that you can visit (which is really cool, especially for the little ones), along with an adorable, country-style gift shop.
The woman who took care of us (sadly, I did not get her name) was so down-to-earth, warm, and personable, which made our Christmas tree buying experience more significant. She was fantastic with our little ones and was quite knowledgeable about the different species available. She told us a bit about each one, and encouraged learning while speaking to Carter (asking him why he thinks they need to shake out the tree, why they net it, etc.). She kept a smile on her face the whole time. She even let Carter push the button to turn on the "shaker" and also let him "help" carry it to our car. There, she helped my husband tie it down to the roof. We were given a tree bag and Christmas tree food to keep our tree looking beautiful until Christmas.
Our experience at Greene Acres Christmas Tree Farm was the best compared to the other farms in the area. Some Christmas tree farms are so large that the staff don't have much time to bother being personable and helpful. Other Christmas tree farms seem to be more concerned with their money than actually making the experience significant. Greene Acres Christmas Tree Farm certainly goes above and beyond. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else from here on out.
In regards to sizes, this year, they were "in-between" sizes, meaning the trees they had were either very big or very small. Because of this, they "imported" trees from another Christmas tree farm and had a very nice selection.
Carter picks out the tree every year and he chose a Scots Pine (I believe). We typically get a Douglas Fir, but we all really liked the fullness and dark green color of the Scots.
Price Ranges
Our tree cost $31 and stands approximately 8 to 9 feet tall (on the stand) and is at least four feet wide.
The price varies depending upon the size and type of tree, but you can expect to pay anywhere from $28 to $50 for your tree; this includes a tree bag and Christmas tree "food" along with shaking, netting, and help tying (and hauling) to your vehicle. It's absolutely worth the price.
I look forward to finishing the decorating with the little ones. More pictures coming soon!
Have a very Merry Christmas this year!
