Cypress—despite having melancholic connotations (it is often associated with grief, mortality, and death)—actually produces essential oil that is beneficial to both the body and mind. I, personally, wanted to try Cypress Essential Oil for its potential to reduce the appearance of varicose veins, as well as to use in all-natural, homemade cleaning products.

I received a 15 mL amber glass bottle of Cypress Essential Oil from Scential Health for review. The bottle came wrapped in plastic bubble wrap inside of a box to prevent breakage or damage during shipping. The bottle was in great shape, as you can see in the image below.
The current price of Scential Health Cypress Oil is $7.95 (on sale as of April 28, 2015—the actual price is $12.95). Because of the potency, benefits, and amount of concentrated oil you receive, this is a very reasonable price, especially when compared to other Cypress Oils on the market.
The bottle, like all of Scential Health Essential Oils, features a Euro-style dropper cap. The rubber-rim keeps the oil sealed inside of the bottle, allowing it to last during storage.
Upon opening the Cypress Oil to indulge in its fragrance, I was a bit taken aback. The scent wasn't at all what I was expecting. Cypress Oil, from what I understand, should have an herbaceous, woodsy scent. That was not the case with Scential Health's Cypress Oil. The oil came off smelling of chemicals and was almost dead-on to that of Pine-Sol, which is a popular chemical cleaner. That in itself was extremely off-putting.
Because a review is a review, I still wanted to try the Cypress Oil to test the benefits. I used it diluted (I typically use oils "neat," but the chemical undertones on this particular oil made me wary of using it undiluted) and applied a small amount to a very noticeable vein on my leg. I did this over a week and was actually quite impressed with the results.

Despite Scential Health Cypress Oil working on my varicose veins, I'm still extremely iffy about it due to the chemical scent. On the bottle, it also says "Peace From Within" whereas most of Scential Health's oils mention the genus and species. That, along with the scent, makes me question the purity of this particular oil.
Brief History of Cypress
Cypress, a needle-bearing evergreen (Cupressus Sempervirens), is a durable, hardwood tree. The term comes from "sempervivens," a German word meaning "live forever." The name is fitting, especially when considering that the cross Jesus was sacrificed on is said to have been made from Cypress wood.
The Phonecians and Cretans used the wood to build homes and ships, whereas the Greeks used it to create beautiful statues in honor of their gods and goddesses. The Chinese used Cypress cones to heal bleeding gums, and Hippocrates recommended Cypress as a remedy for hemorrhoids.
Extraction Method
Cypress oil is typically extracted by steam distillation using the twigs, stems, and needles of the Cypress tree.
Benefits & Uses of Cypress Oil
Cypress has been used for thousands of years for many different purposes. It is considered to be a powerful astringent, antiseptic, deodorant, diuretic, hepatic, and sedative. It's often used to help relieve discomfort during a woman's menstrual cycle and to sooth the digestive system. It may be also applied topically to help aching muscles.
In spirituality, Cypress oil is said to be grounding, just like most tree oils.
Overall Opinion
While the Cypress Oil did work on my varicose veins, the fragrance is not what I expected at all. It doesn't smell natural, in my opinion, and is missing the earthy scent that one would come to expect from an all-natural, 100% pure tree oil.
