It’s very much essential that we take care of our bodies at whatever age we may be. And as we age, we may find that life gets a little hectic sometimes, and that can end up leading to the occasional burnout. So here’s how to get better when you feel run down.
Say No
It can be hard sometimes to say no. We want to impress everyone that we value and love, whether that’s in our personal or work lives. However, taking on too much is not good for your overall health and mental wellbeing. If you find yourself getting ill more often or not feeling yourself, the last thing you should be doing is taking on more work or doing more. It’s very easy to say yes but not so easy to say no. But practice makes perfect so if there’s someplace you don’t want to go or a project you’ve been offered at work but have enough already on your plate, say no thanks.Clear The Schedule
When you’re burning out, it can feel very overwhelming to look at your social calendar and see it jam-packed with work commitments and events. It’s important though that when you’re feeling unwell, that you clear the schedule you have for the next couple of days or even for the week. It might be noticeable that you need to reset or recharge your buttons, so don’t be afraid to cancel any work engagements and meet-ups with friends. Your friends will understand, and the company you work for should have alternative options in place. If they make you feel guilty for canceling, then it might be work speaking to your manager or HR because that’s not ok.Eat Healthier
You may already eat a healthy and balanced diet, but when you’re ill, the worst thing you could do is to eat more junk food. Instead, add in more fruit and vegetables as part of your meals or as a healthy snack to keep you fueled up throughout the day. Make sure that you are getting your three meals a day, and if you’re finding it hard to make time for breakfast, then you can always make a smoothie using a mixture of fruit or vegetables. That way you’re getting the most important meal of the day into your body. It’s also worth taking at home health tests every now and then to make sure you’re not lacking in any vitamins or minerals that your body needs. A review of everlywell is a good place to start with at-home tests.
Spend Time Alone
The thought of spending time alone for some can be really off-putting. Some of us are more comfortable being around others, but it’s important that you learn to love your own company. This comes in handy when you find yourself in over your head and running yourself into the ground. Spending some quality time on your own to reflect and think about what you can do to help yourself can be very beneficial for your health and mindset. So make a conscious effort to pay attention to your body and overall health and when you’re feeling burn out or run down, eat more healthily, get plenty of rest and relaxation.
