Writing Jobs, Online Copywriting Work at Home - Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing

Self-publish or choose a publisher? That's a question that many aspiring authors ask themselves. There are pros and cons for each, of course, but I highly recommend self-publishing if you're a first-time author—and you can start with Kindle Direct Publishing.
Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) is Amazon's self-publishing platform that was launched in 2007. With KDP, you can publish your e-book in less than five minutes. Within 24 to 48 hours, your book will appear on Kindle stores worldwide. This is an excellent way to get your book into the hands of your target audience and finally deem yourself a published author.

A friend that I met through Demand Media Studios turned me on to Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing back in 2011.

Back then, Amazon wasn't nearly as popular as it is today. In fact, back then, I barely used Amazon but today, it is my go-to online shopping website and my go-to for books. I own two Kindle Fires, have an Amazon Prime account, and a Kindle Unlimited membership. Needless to say, Amazon has definitely come up in the world.

Anyway, my friend brought KDP to my attention and reeled me in by sending me the story of Amanda Hocking. Amanda Hocking, a twenty-something year old, published her books with KDP and sold them between $0.99 and $2.99 each. She sells around 100,000 copies each month and as a result, she has become a millionaire!

How does Kindle Direct Publishing pay? How much can you earn?

You can earn up to 70% royalty on sales to customers in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, India, France, Italy, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, and others. If you're a member of KDP Select, you can earn more money through Kindle Unlimited and the Kindle Owners' Lending Library.

Writers are paid via Direct Deposit when their account reaches $10. Alternatively, you can choose to be paid by check when your account reaches $100. Earning potential depends on the price of your book, how well you market it, how well-received it is, whether or not you're a member of KDP Select, and several other factors. While Amanda Hocking's situation might not be typical, it does show that there is some major earning potential with Kindle Direct Publishing.

You maintain full control of your rights and select your own list prices. You can make changes to your book at any time, which makes it convenient for you and your audience.
