Pure Silk Shaving Cream Review + The Many Uses of Barbasol + Giveaway

Shaving is one of those mundane tasks that I'd rather not have to do on a daily basis. This is the main reason why I'm constantly on the look out for a solution that's capable of prolonging my shaving needs for more than 24 hours.

I think I've finally found it.

Up until now, I was using a rather expensive name-brand shaving cream for sensitive skin. Due to the thickness of the cream however, my razor was unable to glide up my leg with ease. This prevented a close shave and within 24 hours, the stubble was back.

I recently had the opportunity to try a different shaving cream called Pure Silk Raspberry Mist. Pure Silk is part of Barbasol's women's line of shaving cream that comes in various formulas, including Raspberry Mist, Cherry Blossom, and Dry Skin Therapy, among others. I'm very impressed with the results.

Below, you'll see a before and after photograph. The "Before" picture reflects one day after shaving with a more expensive brand of "sensitive" shaving cream. The "After" picture reflects one day after shaving with Pure Silk Raspberry Mist. I used the same razor and the same method both times.

Needless to say, Pure Silk beats the more expensive brand by a long shot. After one day, there was still no sign of stubble, and it didn't reappear until three days after shaving. My legs were also left feeling smooth and moisturize, with no signs of flaky skin.

This isn't particularly surprising to me, as Barbasol specializes in shaving cream for sensitive skin.

While you may already know that Barbasol Original has been around for nearly a decade, you probably aren't aware that it has dozens of other uses. Since my shaving experience with Barbasol's "Pure Silk" went well, I decided try out some of these other uses for Barbasol Original.

Defog Bathroom Mirrors

Introduce Barbasol to your mirror, and condensation will become a thing of the past. My husband treated our mirror with Barbasol prior to my steamy-hot shower. When I was finished, the mirror was just as clear as it had been before I ran the water. No fog!

To defog your bathroom mirror, add a dollop of Barbasol to a paper towel and using circular motions, rub it in until the cream is no longer visible. The residue acts as a barrier and prevents water build-up. Repeat once a week for best results.

Remove Hairspray Build Up

After trying a heavy-duty brand of hairspray, my bathroom sink was covered in sticky, white residue. Knowing the power of Barbasol, I decided to put its cleaning powers to the test. I applied a liberal amount of the shaving cream to the sink, spread it onto the entire fixture, and let it sit for about 10 minutes. I then used a clean cloth to wipe the shaving cream off using soft, circular motions. Finally, I wiped the sink down with a damp washcloth and allowed it to air dry. Not only was my sink free of hairspray residue, but it smelled clean too.

Wash Dirt Off of Sneakers

No, your eyes aren't deceiving you. Barbasol can even be used to clean sneakers. My son has had these shoes for almost a year now, and they've built up quite a bit of dirt. I simply applied a small amount of Barbasol to the troublesome areas, rubbed it in with my hand, and let it sit for 5 minutes. I then used an old toothbrush to gently scrub the area, and then I wiped it clean with a paper towel.

Clean School Desks

In elementary school, my teacher would have us spread Barbasol all over our desks and then practice our cursive by writing in the shaving cream with our fingers. Little did we know, we were learning and cleaning our desks, all while having a blast. It was a win-win for everyone! It really does work, too. Simply drop a glob of shaving cream onto the desk, rub it in, and then let your kid(s) go to town. Once they're all finished, wipe it with a paper towel, and then again with a damp cloth. Allow to air dry. Voila! Squeaky clean!

Needless to say, having a few cans of Barbasol around the house can really come in handy. Today, I'm giving you the chance to win one of the following Barbasol products:

  • Barbasol Soothing Aloe
  • Pure Silk Raspberry Mist
  • Barbasol Original
  • Pure Silk Dry Skin Therapy
