Inexpensive Fashion Finds

Thrift stores are like Christmas, and Wal-Mart is like the overpriced store where I go to purchase the really nice things.

Seriously. I hate spending more than $30 for a shirt and I cringe if I absolutely have to. But I'm pretty sure those days are over. I think I'm becoming a bargain shopper.

Check out these flats that I found at Wal-Mart for only $10.

They are perfect for casual wear, and for formal wear--being that I'm definitely not a high-heel kind of girl. Have you ever witnessed a baby calf walk for the first time? Yeah. That's what I look like in heels.

Anyway, while I was browsing, I also found these bad girls.

They're coral crochet-style flats and were only $12. How adorable? And guess who just purchased a $3 coral cowl-neck blouse from the thrift store the other day? Win!

So, besides those, there were more finds that I'd like to share with you.
  • White jersey-knit blazer from Wal-Mart ($20)
  • Pink satin-blend blouse on eBay ($3.50)
  • Black dress pants from Family Dollar ($4 on clearance)
  • Gray dress pants from Valley Thrift ($0.69 !!!)
  • Coral cowl-neck blouse from Goodwill ($3.99)
If you were confused when you read "Family Dollar" up there, rest assured that I did not make a mistake. If you've never been in Family Dollar, you need to go NOW (assuming you have the time and there is one near you). They have incredible deals on clothes, and surprisingly, many of them are high-quality. Some of my favorite tops have come from Family Dollar. If you're lucky, you'll find even better deals on the clearance racks. They also have plus size clothing!

With the above-mentioned deals, I put together two possible outfits for my sister's wedding. I'm sure that I could make more (with the items already in my closet) but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Trust that there will be an update when I do.

The first outfit utilizes a blazer, pink satin blouse, black dress pants, and gray flats. It cost me only $37.50 for a formal outfit (that can easily be made casual without the blazer and with jeans).

The second outfit uses the same blazer, a coral cowl-neck top, gray dress pants, and the coral flats. So, this outfit cost me only $36.68.

Being a plus-size girl, it is often very difficult to find flattering outfits at affordable prices. This is why I totally recommend the thrift store. The prices are incredibly cheap and you can try the outfit on right then and there. Many thrift stores (not all of them) also have return policies. It's a win-win for all. Just give it a try. You won't be disappointed!
