Essential Oil Uses and Benefits

Essential oils are famous worldwide for their benefits and long term use in treating particular illnesses. And they have an interesting production process as well: the orange peels are cold pressed, thus preserving a strong aroma. This particular type of oil is used for stimulation and energizing, but there are lots of other oils with various uses. Let’s have a look at a couple of them!

Cleaning

Not many people know that, but many essential oils are good for all-purpose cleaning. Lemon oil and tea tree oil are perfect for disinfecting countertops, for example, if you add them to a couple of ounces of warm water.

Repelling mosquitos

Orange oil, as well as eucalyptus, citronella or lemongrass oil, combined with coconut oil are a great way of using a natural bug spray. You can rub it on the skin you expose and remember to apply it again whenever you need it.

Air Freshener

Some oils are really concentrated and they make an excellent air freshener. For example, you can use cinnamon essential oil and diffuse it in the air. It also has anti-microbial properties, so it’s even better.

House Cleaning

You can also add essential oils to the washing machine and the vacuum cleaner if you want to have a home and clothes that smell like your favorite flavor.

Sunscreen

Essential oils have lots of benefits for the skin, and a good idea is to make your own sunscreen, especially if you love going to the beach. You just have to mix together coconut oil, helichrysum oil and lavender essential oil, as well as zinc oxide and shea butter. Then store it all in a squeeze bottle and be ready for a great tan!

Cooking

Naturally, one of the best uses for the flavorful essential oils is in cooking. Christmas flavors are one of the most popular, for example. If you want to cook something sweet for Christmas, you can always use cinnamon or orange oil.

Relaxing

The smell of an essential oil can help you relax and unwind after a long day. For this purpose, lavender oil is the best choice. Diffuse it around the home to keep stress and tension at bay and even to help you get better sleep.

Better tea

Make your regular tea better with one or two drops of your favorite flavor essential oil. You can combine them as you wish, for example spice up mint tea with some orange oil or lavender oil.

Massage

For a more relaxing moment, mix cedarwood or lavender oil with an unscented lotion whenever you give or receive a massage. Moreover, it is also good for meditation or yoga, for example.
